CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF CALIK DENIM
WITH DENIM LOVES ART
Calik
Denim is celebrating 30 years of global success with Denim Loves Art, a
socially minded project showcasing 30 denim art works by 30 young international
designers at three special events in Istanbul, Amsterdam and Los Angeles.
The Denim Loves Art project was created to mark Calik Denim’s 30th anniversary
while supporting and showcasing the work of young international designers who
have taken denim – the passion we share – to a new level.
As part of this project Calik Denim invited young designers from some of the
world’s most prestigious fashion and design schools including Parsons School of
Design, the University of Edinburgh, Amsterdam Fashion Institute, Central St.
Martins and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University – to submit their designs and
plans for a unique item made primarily from denim that they would then produce
for the exhibition. The final 30 art works, selected by an international jury,
highlight just how much denim is interwoven into every aspect of our lives, as
the young designers created a wide array of pieces including clothing but also
furniture, accessories, shoes, bags and rugs.
Mimar
Sinan Fine Arts University, Textile and Fashion Design Department students Senem
Kula, Berna Süslü, Fatma Süleymanoğlu, Begüm Kıran and Süreyya
Süleymanoğlu entitled to participate in the project.
The Denim
Loves Art Project exhibition launched to great acclaim in Istanbul on 11th
October, then moved on to Amsterdam on 25th and 26th October – and will be now
be relocating to the USA for the finale of these three special events celebrating
Calik Denim’s 30th anniversary in Los Angeles on 6th December 2017.
